Grupo Média Nacional was founded on the 19th December, 2003 with the aim of contributing to the development of media in the newly independent Timor-Leste. In that respective year, "Jornal Nacional Semanário" weekly newspaper was launched and in 2005 the Group launched its second print media; the daily newspaper "Jornal Nacional Diário". The underlying objective of these outlets was to provide both national and international news to the people. Since then, the Group worked toward expanding its media activities in the area of television and radio as well as developing a digital platform for the Group's communications. After almost 14 years, the dream finally came through with the launching of the national broadcasting television station GMN-TV and the national broadcasting radio station Nacional FM as well as the digital media platform www.gmntv.tl. All of these projects have been built using cutting edge technology and equipment. Both GMN-TV and Nacional FM broadcast nationwide and also cover the ASEAN countries as well as the pacific region. For domestic broadcast, the stations use Ultra High Frequency (UHF) waves while for areas beyond Timor-Leste, they use Telkom 3S Satellite, both in Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) qualities. To date, these two stations are the first communication and media infrastructures well equipped with the capacity to broadcast nationally as well as internationally. The digital platform www.gmntv.tl reaches the entire world. With the launch. GMN fulfills its initial and present mottos: "Hamutuk Haklaken Lia Lós" (Together We Proclaim the Truth) and "Lori Timor ba Mundu" (Bringing Timor to the World).
So far, we have shown our ability to promote the Timorese culture, to share information and knowledge among the Timorese living in and outside Timor-Leste, and also to bring the world to Timor.
